Who: People involved in the prepping community are known as Preppers. A Prepper may literally be any person, because being prepared is based on an individuals needs and scenarios. Some people are prepping for situations that other's may never encounter. But if you're preparing for anything, you are by definition a Prepper.
What: The development of a plan for the safety and well being of ourselves, and loved ones, during an event we deem to be an emergency or catastrophe. The acquisition of provisions and equipment, as well as training and knowledge in a variety of fields necessary to support said plan. We will get more in depth about specific items and skills later in this blog.
When: Prepping is a constant and dynamic lifestyle. Your plan will always be evolving to fit any changes in your life. The search for more suitable items and information is a never-ending quest to better your ultimate goal of being prepared. When it comes to prepping, your work is never done.
Where: Where you choose to prep is based on a variety of factors. Some Preppers will develop and maintain entire properties, aside from their primary residences, to prepping. Others, such as myself, prep almost entirely in and around their primary residence.
Why: The responses to this question are probably the most hotly debated in all of the prepping community. Everyone preps for a situation they believe will take place sooner or later. Getting into the reasons for which a person is prepping can sometimes feel like a religious or political debate. We all have emergencies or disasters we are sure will happen. It's up to you to decide why and for what you're prepping, no one else.
This is a crash course in the basic foundation of prepping, there is no end to what we can cover. This will be what I build my philosophy upon, in turn being the basis for everything I post on this blog.
Over the next few posts we will start to look further in depth at my reasons for prepping, and how they compare/differ from others in the community. Then we will start exploring products, techniques and the sorts.
I hope everyone enjoyed the post, until next time. Be Prepared. Be Safe. Have fun.
